Posted on September 28th, 2009 by Samanatha Jones in Las Vegas

Basel- the second largest city of Switzerland is situated near Rhine River and lies very close to the German and French frontiers. Being the oldest university city of the country you can find several historic landmarks including the ancient cathedral built in Romanesque-Gothic style, magnificent market square and the town hall with its red sandstone grandeur.

You have an opportunity to explore several antique book shops, small boutiques and more than 40 museums while being in the tradition-conscious city of Basel. Several museums such as The Museum of Cultures, The Foundation Beyeler, The Basel Art Museum and the Museum displaying the works of Jean Tinguely, the iron sculptor are known for their international fame.

It is very easy for you to find a cheap hotel at Basel as the place is full of affordable accommodation.

Those who love greenery can relish ample of lush green parks and amazing Botanical Gardens. The banks of Rhine are simply wonderful for your tired muscles.
