Binion’s Poker Classic Another Huge Success

I just returned from my summer excursion to Las Vegas and Binion’s Gambling Hall and Casino put on another Poker Classic.  Last year was the first annual poker classic and I was fortunate enough to cash in three events and make a final table in one.  Due to other obligation at the World Series of Poker this year, I was unable to play the type of schedule that I normally would play.  Instead, I wound up only playing in one event at the classic, and that was the Stud 8 or Better event.  The event went well for me, as I made the money and finished in 22nd place.

The Poker Classic held event during the entire month of June and part of July and spread almost every game under the sun except for lowball.  Lowball was dropped from this years Classic due to low attendance.  Attendance for this years Poker Classic was great with decent sized fields for all events.  Sadly, after the Poker Classic, Binion’s tournament director Jennifer Campbell was forced to resign and as a result, many of us wonder the future of the Poker Classic.  The event was her brain chid and it would be sad to see it go.

My advice to Binion’s would be to keep the classic.  It was a fantastic set of events that are reasonably priced compared to the WSOP counterparts.  With any luck, next year I will be playing in the THIRD Annual Binions Poker Classic.
