Las Vegas and the Economy

Posted on July 21st, 2008 by Ronalyn Edillor in Las Vegas

I was watching the news earlier when they featured Las Vegas. It appears that there was a decline in the number of visitors in Sin City due to the bad state of the economy. Patrons who were interviewed said they spend much of their time people-watching instead of spending money to play games. Sure, they still go to Vegas but mostly to take in the scene without spending a lot.

Aside from this, hotels in the strip were also affected because accommodations lessened due to the decline in the number of tourists. But still, many new hotels are being constructed so there is the concern of over-supply in terms of hotels in the area.

Because of the economy’s state, it is a tough competition for the hotel owners. One is even offering a gift card for gas to give subsidy to customers. They are running different promos and gimmicks to attract tourists.

It is tough times indeed for everybody including the city of lights. The people have become more cautious in spending their hard-earned money. It seems more and more people are finding it hard to squeeze in a visit without sacrificing their budget. They can still travel there but it is best if they save up for it and definitely there are a lot of good offers to choose from.
