You’re a tournament player and visiting Las Vegas for the first time. You would prefer to take in some tournaments but don’t want anything too expensive. What are you options? Plenty! No matter the time of day, there is a tournament going on somewhere in Vegas. Let’s take a look at a few options.
The Sahara holds 3 NL tournaments during the day at 11AM, 7pm, and 11 PM. It is a $45 buy-in with $20 rebuys. Starting chips is $3000 with 20 minute levels.
Treasure Island runs tournaments several times per day with a $65 buy-in. These are freezeout tournaments with $3500 in starting chips and 20 minute levels. Tournaments are run several times a day starting at 7AM.
Binions holds three events daily with a $70 buy-in with a single $40 rebuy. You only start with $1500 in chips for this event but the blind structure is slower than most of the local tournaments. The rounds are 20 minutes for this tournament as well.
The Orleans Casino holds two tournaments daily, one at noon and one at 7. Almost all are NL tournaments except for two Omaha 8 or better events that are held on Mondays at Noon and Thursdays at 7PM. Most events are $80 buy-ins and start you with $4000 in chips. The events at the Orleans tend to draw a much larger crowd than the other daily tournaments in the area. I have played several daily events here and the crowd is always over 100 players for the NL events and usually around 100 for the Omaha Events. The blind structure is somewhat slow with 30 minute rounds. For the Orleans events, I would recommend calling or going to their website to check on the schedule as they tend to change things several times a year.
The above are just a few examples of the tournaments that go on daily in Vegas. If you’re a tournament player check them out or check out the events in other casinos. Regardless of your choice, you’re sure to have a blast playing tournament poker in Vegas.
