Safety Tips

Vegas is a fun and exciting city, but at the same time, it isn’t without its dangers.   Below are a few tips to help keep you safe in Vegas.

If you walking anywhere, don’t walk alone.  This applies to everyone.  Take a buddy along, or go in a group.  Groups of people are less likely to be approached by unsavory characters and hustlers as individuals.  Safety in numbers is the key here.

Lock your doors at all times.  I come from a rural town in the south where you could leave your front door unlocked and never have to worry.  In Vegas however, I trust no one.  I have seen people go out to their cars to find someone has camped out in there for the night.   Of course, an unlocked car is an easy target for thieves.  My father likes to say that locks only keep honest people out.  This is true, but it also keeps out lazy criminals.

Carry some type of defensive weapon on you.  Whether it’s a knife, mace, or a maglite flashlight, carry something that you can defend yourself with.

If you’re in a casino and feel threatened or are uneasy going somewhere alone, call on security.  Casinos hire security to keep their patrons and the casino safe.  If patrons feel safe, they will come back and spend more money.

Use Valet parking if you’re going to a casino late at night.  Yes, this may cost a little more, but why take the chance of going through a dark parking lot when you can sit or stand in a secure area and wait for your car.  Think of the valet fee or tip as an investment in your safety.

Vegas is a ton of fun, and to continue having fun, you need to be safe.  Use the above tips next time you go and enjoy yourself at the casinos.
