The very first tip about Vegas I received from professional poker player Barbara Enright. She told me to go see the Fremont Street Experience when I was in Vegas. The first time I went to Vegas in 2006, I never got a chance to go to Fremont Street. I was very busy playing at the World Series of Poker and when I wasn’t there I was playing over at the Orleans Casino. Last year, I had a little more time on my hands.
Fremont Street is located in downtown Vegas and is home to several casinos including the Plaza, the Golden Nugget and Binion’s. All along Fremont you will find little vendors selling various items. Also located on Fremont is a large souvenir store that has all types of modestly priced items. Some of my favorites were 3 T-shirts for $10, the CSI merchandise, and the Vegas Polo’s. One nice thing is that if you’re a person of larger size, they have shirts that go all the way to 4 and 5x. The staff was very helpful.
The main draw to Fremont Street is the Fremont Street Experience, which is a light show that goes off every night starting at dark and goes every hour on the hour. Some people are really impressed by the light show, others are not. I fall in the latter category, but many people enjoy it. If you are ever in Vegas, head down to Fremont Street, even if it’s just for a short trip or to visit the souvenir shop. It’s a nice little piece of Vegas history that shouldn’t be missed.
