Learn MoreBinion’s Gambling Hall and Casino
If you are a fan of poker or gambling in general, then you owe it to yourself to head down to Fremont Street and visit Binions Gambling Hall and Casino. For many years Binions was known as Binion’s Horseshoe and was host to the highest gambling limits of any casino on earth. Benny Binion was well known to host the best games and the biggest tournaments on earth.
Poker fans are well aware that Binion’s is where the World Series of Poker became popular and is the place where the poker boom started. In 2004, Harrah’s purchased the Horseshoe, kept the Horseshoe name and the WSOP rights, and then proceeded to sell the casino. Harrahs may have taken away the Horseshoe name, but the spirit of the casino lives on.
Binion’s isn’t a mega casino like Bellagio, Wynn, or event the Rio. It is nestled among several casinos on Fremont and to the eye looks like any other casino along the street. Inside you can find all the typical games you would expect to find in a casino, but what you should check out is Binion’s poker room. Binion’s boasts a nice poker room that has a nice sized tournament area. You can also take an escalator upstairs to visit Benny’s Bullpen, the site of many classic WSOP clashes.
The Poker Hall of Fame wall is a staple of Binion’s as well as the Wall of Champions. You can view all the WSOP main event winners since the inception of the Main Event back in 1970. The cash game action at Binions is primarily low stakes and almost all Holdem. There are mostly local players at Binions so the games are not easy by any means. A good player should make a profit. Binions has fantastic tournaments including their Poker Classic that is run concurrent to the World Series of Poker. I played in this event last year and for the money you won’t find a better run tournament anywhere.
If you’re a poker player, check out Binions. The nostalgia value alone is worth the trip.
