So You Want To Get Married In Vegas

One of the things Vegas is most famous for is the quickie marriages. Well I’m here to tell you if you are hanging out in Las Vegas with a bunch of friends or just with your boyfriend and decided to go get married spur the moment you might want to listen up. Contrary to most belief you cannot just show up to one of the countless wedding chapels in Las Vegas and get married.

You first need to swing by the Las Vegas Marriage License Bureau, which is located at 201 Clark Avenue, Las Vegas NV 89155. You need to bring $55 cash with you to receive the license and you must have a valid ID available, your driver’s license, passport or birth certificate are all excitable forms of identification. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight) 7 days a week. The offices no longer stay open 24 hours a day on the weekend or holidays. Also be prepared for a line, when my husband and I went to get ours we had to stand in line for 4 long hours in triple digit heat to get ours. I also know of other people who didn’t have a line at all, but either way be prepared for a wait.

Another interesting fact is that celebrities still have to stand in line with us normal people if they want to obtain a marriage license as well. There is a sign posted outside the building that states this.
