Learn MoreVegas Freebies: MGM Grand Lion Habitat
There are tons of things on the Vegas strip designed to separate visitors from their money, but there are also some really cool things to see and do that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
One of these is the lion habitat at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The lion habitat features lions that are housed at an 8.5-acre ranch and rotate in and out of the habitat through the day.
The glassed-in habitat allows great views of the animals without scaring them or distracting them with the smell of humans, so it’s a great opportunity to see animals acting like animals, not just sunning themselves or napping like they usually do in regular zoos.
On a recent trip to Vegas I saw two young lion cubs in the habitat and happened to be there at the right time to see a little presentation about the animals and to see them interact with the people who take care of them.
The habitat is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. It’s a great treat for the kids and for other people who are interested in big cats as well.
