The idea is to convert a historic downtown building into “a tribute to the history of organized crime.”
Accoding to a poll, tourists love the idea, but locals hate it.

The poll was done to gauge people’s interest “in a handful of possible themes for a museum proposed for a historic building currently under renovation in downtown Las Vegas.” Other themes included: gambling behind-the-scenes, vintage Vegas, and Las Vegas icons (like Elvis and Sinatra).
Locals were more partial to the vintage Vegas theme, which has do with “the architecture, music and figures that dominated the city’s landscape from the 1930s to the 1950s.”
What eventually emerges…could be a combination of those two concepts, said Jason Gray, director of research and development for Strategic Surveys, which did the study.
“People living here are more uncomfortable revealing aspects of our criminal history than not. They’re as interested in the crime fighting,” he said.
