My husband just returned from a conference in Vegas (it seems strange to me, but Las Vegas seems to be the convention capital of the world) and while he somewhat enjoyed his time there, his chief complaint was how friendly the place was to smokers.
This seems strange to me, especially with the on-again, off-again attempt to make Vegas seem family friendly. It got me thinking: aren’t there places in Las Vegas that nonsmokers would enjoy?
It turns out there are. Here’s a quick list of places for you to check out if you’re planning a smoke-free Vegas vacation:
- The Westin Casuarina is a smoke-free hotel, casino and spa near the strip and a mile from all the big convention centers. Smoking is still allowed in the casino, however.
- According to About.com, the Bellagio, Harrah’s and the MGM Grand have either non-smoking rooms or non-smoking sections within the main casino.
- I’ve also heard that the Golden Nugget is smoke-free. Call ahead to make sure these restrictions still apply.
- Many restaurants have non-smoking sections, especially the higher-dollar ones. A quick search revealed that Joe’s Crab Shack and Spago have non-smoking sections, and many chain restaurants such as Red Robin, IHOP and the Cheesecake Factory are smoke-free.
